1.MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING


The programme for B.Sc(N) help the student to understand the principles and concepts of Medical Surgical Nursing and acquiring the knowledge and develop professional skills in caring for patients with medical and surgical disorders in home and hospital.


Philosophy


Medical and surgical nursing department believes that nursing contributes to the health services in a village through health care delivery system. It aims at identifying the health needs of the people , planning and providing care with other health professionals and community group. It also aims at provision of promotive, preventive and curative aspects of care to people across their life span in wide variety of health care settings based upon applications and principles derived from the physical, biological, behavioural sciences, medical and surgical nursing.


Aim


- Apply the knowledge from physical,biological and behavioural sciences, medicine including alternative treatment.

- Providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.

- Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors which affects the health status of individuals.

- Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and group.

- Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.

- Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decision in all situations inorder to provide quality care.


2.Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing


The teaching programme for B.Sc(N) students will help them to understand the principles and concept of gynaecological nursing and acquiring knowledge and develop professional skills in caring for mothers disorders related to pregnancy and child birth in variety of health care settings at hospital and in home.


Philosophy

- Believe that the nursing students prepared in obstetrics and gynaecological nursing departement are efficient in their speciality areas and function effectively and efficiently In various extended and expanded role to make community incorporating the changing needs of the society and health care delivery system.

- Recognize that the nursing students trained here can demonstrate leadership qualities to work in every gynaecological departments as to efficiently function both inside out of the country and internationally.

- Accept that obstetrics and gynaecological nursing training can mould the nurse with expertise power and attitudes in all in all areas of nursing and thereby uphold the professional image.


Aim


- The aim of the obstetrics and gynecological nursing program in nursing to prepare the students about the responsibilities as registered midwife specialist , educators and administrators.


Objectives


On completion of the OBG nursing programme, the student is able to;

- Describe the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology and diagnostic assessment of women with obstetrical conditions.

- Perform physical,psychosocial,cultural & spiritual assessment of antenatal, intranatal & postnatal.

- Demonstrate competence in caring for high risk new born.

- Identify and mange obstetrical and neonatal emergencies as per protocol.

- Practice infection control method.

- Counsel women and families.

- Able to conduct research in the field of obstetrical and gynecological nursing.

- Function as independent midwifery nurse practitioner.


3.CHILD HEALTH NURSING


The department of Child Health Nursing helps the students to understand the child health nursing care, develop in depth understanding of identification, prevention and nursing management of affected children. They provide family centered care in clinical and community setting.


Philosophy


The dpartment of child health nursing believes that;

- It will enable the student community to acquire the essential knowledge in the field of pediatric nursing.

- It will equip the students so that they could give holistic care to the children.

- It will train the students so that they are recognized as neonatal and pediatric nursing specialists.

- The students of the department will be able to handle critical children confidently.

The department could develop the students in such a way that they become effective nurse educator and researcher in the field of pediatric nursing.

The department of child health nursing aims to

- Assist students in developing expertise and in depth understanding in the field of child health nursing.

- Help the students to appreciate the child as holistic individual and develop skill to function as pediatric nurse.

- Enable the student to function as an educator, manager and researcher in the field of child health nursing.


Objectives


- To impart the essential knowledge to the students in the field of pediatric nursing.

- To fulfill the emerging needs of the country keeping global standards.

- To equip the students to deliver holistic care to the children by family centered approach.

- To train the students as neonatal and pediatric nurse specialists.

- To prepare the students to provide critical care to neonate and children confidently.

This department helps the students to understand the modern concept of child care, develop in depth about the prevvention and nursing management of common problems of neonate and children.


4. PSYCHIATRIC NURSING


The Psychiatric Nursing programme for Bsc(N) studentwill help them to understand the principles and concepts of Mental Health Nursing. To increase knowledge and to develop professional skills in caring of patients with psychiatric illness.

- Believe that the psychiatry program is essential to prepare the nursing students in psychiatric and Mental health nursing education and practice in india and internationally.


Aims


- The aim of Mental Health and psychiatric Nursing program in Nursing is to prepare graduates registered Nurse specialists, Educators, and Dministrators in a wide variety of health care settings.


Objectives


At the end of the course the student will be able to:

- Apply the Nursing process in the care of patients with mental disorders in hospital and community.

- Demonstrate advanced skills/ competence in Nursing management of patients with mental disorders.

- Identify and manage psychiatric emergencies.

- Demonstrate skills in carrying out crisis intervention.

- Appreciate the legal and ethical issues pertaining to psychiatric nursing.

- Describe various types of alternative system of medicines used in psychiatric settings.

The college has clinical tie-ups with psychiatric unit of Millitary Hospital, Meerut.

The students are also provided with counselling services to improve their academic performance.


4. COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING


The community Health Nursing program will help the students to understand the principles and concepts of community health nursing and acquiring knowledge and develop professional skills in caring for clients in the community.

- Believe that knowledge about the community health nursing among nursing students will ensure the students to understand different levels of health programmes implemented at the community.


Objective


At the end of the community health nursing course the student will be able to ;

- Function efficiently as a community health nurse at various levels of health care delivery system.

- Work effectively as a community health nurse by integrating principles of various levels of prevention.

- Plan and organize various clinics including the principles of national and state level programmes.

- Imparting a comprehensive nursing care.

- Demonstrate the right knowledge, skill, and attitude in caring for individuals and families in the community.

- Record and reports, vital and day to day events that occur among families and communities.
